A deep, rich ruby colour. This medium to full-bodied red wine offers flirtatious raspberry, ripe cherries, vanilla and black pepper on the nose. Intense and inviting juicy red fruits follow through on the palate with the structure of fine tannin, moderate oak and a subtle peppery finish. A wine to drink now that would be worth cellaring for 3 to 4 years
WHO: Winemaker, Matthew Copeland
WHERE: The up-and-coming Voor Paardeberg wine region
FROM: A harmonious blend of the red grapes Merlot (55%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (45%)
HOW: Some tanks were fermented uncrushed as whole berries to promote a lighter, fruity palate, while others were crushed and worked hard to promote structure and spiciness. This has resulted in a very broad spectrum of fruit and spiciness on the nose and palate. The wine was then matured for 15 months in old 300 L French oak barrels.
ALCOHOL: 13, 5%
ENJOY WITH: A versatile red that would be a happy match for any fine meat dishes, from a juicy fillet steak to a traditional South African braai.
HOW MUCH: R69.95
