Kirstenbosch Rocked!!

We invited 50 of our friends to join us for the Parlotones concert at Kirstenbosch on Monday 22 March. Needless to say, it was awesome.  Great company, fantastic music and even better wine!  Thank you to all who shared the evening with us.

The Parlotones Push me to the Floor wine video was filmed on Monday 16 March 2009 on the wine farm Romond outside of Somerset West.  Film director Andre Liebenberg and his wife Rhona, was so kind to let us use their beautiful farm and wine cellar as location for the shoot.  Andre also played the role of assistant director to Xaver Walser.

It was a long day of shooting with the band and a even longer evening for the dancers, but fun was had by all. Many bottles of Push me to the Floor and Giant Mistake helped to sooth our thirsts and it also reminded us of a time we felt inspired….to dance!

Duwayne Smith from Alchemy Images spent the day with us capturing the magic on camera.

The film is currently in the editing stages but will be featuring here soon.

A lot of preperation (or perspiration) and hard work went into the Push me to the Floor wine film.  Due to time restraints, we had to have everything perfect for the day of the shooting. Here are our fantastic dancers who represented members of the media in the 1920′s rehearsing their routine under the cracking wip of film director Xaver Walser.

We are so sorry the owl did not survive

08 March 2010

We had a fabulous visit with winemaker Lourens van der Westhuizen and his beautiful wife Lizelle on his family farm Arendsig, just outside of Robertson. Welcoming us was the latest addition to their (brand new) family;  a St Barnard puppy called Boerseun . Don’t let the word puppy fool you – this guy is not at all that little and most definitely the king of his castle.

The couple spoiled us with good food, great company and fantastic wine – Arendsig originals offcourse (we will be featuring one of these babies in our portfolio very soon).  Lourens’s original cellar is now used as a beautiful tasting/dining room and also hosted their wedding in December – breathtaking scenery completes this perfect picture. Fun was had by all, until it was time to head home…

On our way back we hit a bird (we thought it was a duck) with our minibus. After freaking out and turning around to see if there is anything we can do to save the animal, we learned that it was indeed an owl.  Siskha generously offered her pashmina to wrap the owl in to keep warm while Steve sat holding it in his arms, cradling it like a baby. We arranged to meet the SPCA at Worcester and just as we pulled up, the owl awoke kicking and screaming. A bite on the finger later, Steve managed to hand the owl over to its caretaker -  pashmina and all. It was a very heartfelt rescuing effort and we were all very positive that the owl will survive. Unfortunately we learned the next day that our friend did not make it after all. Very sad indeed.
